Farnsfield 1st XI are through to the final eight of the ECB National T20 Plate Competition after a thrilling win over Sprotbrough CC yesterday! This competition is designed for all sides outside of the ECB Premier Leagues and it is a huge honour for the club to be through to these latter stages.
Batting first, Farnsfield put on a total of 161 for 6, including contributions from:
Ben Kilford – 48 off 33 balls (8 fours) & Dom Cumming – 40 off just 25 balls (3 fours, 3 sixes).
With the ball, it was a fantastic team effort with:
Alex West taking 4 wickets including an impressive caught and bowled
James Bowker and Tom Chalkley each took 2 wickets
And Joel Brett sealed the win in the final over by taking Spotbrough’s final wicket with stumps flying!
There was some excellent fielding including Peter Frettingham’s heroic dive to prevent a boundary and Will Wheatley’s catch on the boundary to dismiss Sprotbrough’s top scorer.
The quarter finals and semi-finals will be played at Elsecar CC on Sunday 24th August. More details about the fixtures and timings will be released in due course.
