Farnsfield Cricket Club’s Women’s & Girls’ softball team had an unforgettable day at Trent Bridge on Saturday 15th March, as they competed in the indoor County Finals. A squad of 11 women and girls took to the field, excited for the challenge ahead, with a few nerves thrown in at the prospect of playing at such an iconic venue.
With two pools of five teams, Farnsfield played four matches throughout the day, securing one hard-fought victory, narrowly losing another, and facing tough competition in the remaining two. Despite not making the semi-finals, the team played with determination, putting in a huge effort and learning a great deal along the way.
Coach Neil Atkin was on hand to support the squad and the team showcased great skill and commitment, with several minor injuries proving just how much effort everyone put in. Most importantly, the day was full of fun, teamwork and a fantastic spirit, making the most of a brilliant opportunity to play at Trent Bridge.
Although results didn’t go our way, it was an incredible experience for the whole team—one that will inspire us as we continue to grow and develop women’s and girls’ cricket at Farnsfield Cricket Club.
